The timing of the Voicemails shoot was momentous. Javon Johnson flew out for the filming on a hot, pollen-filled, April day. That same afternoon, former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of George Floyd's murder.
This significance wasn’t lost on set. We found space to document the mood and meaning behind the lens.
