On Set with Ben Folds for His 'Keys for Kids' Fundraiser
North Carolina native Ben Folds returns to his home state with 'Keys for Kids', a charitable initiative to provide young people with piano lessons and instruments at no cost. We partnered with The North Carolina Arts Council and NC Arts Foundation to launch the initiative with a live-streamed online fundraiser.
The online fundraiser featured chatter and performances by North Carolina First Lady Kristin Cooper, NC Arts Foundation Executive Director Wayne Martin, Kidznotes Executive Director Shana Tucker and her musical student Zion Anderson.
Final numbers have yet to be revealed, but we hear the amount raised is going to be a huge help to kids across the state.
The reason I’m so enthusiastic and passionate about this initiative is that I believe our young people need now, more than ever, what music has to offer.
As part of the program, seven organizations were selected in cooperation with the North Carolina Arts Council and North Carolina Arts Foundation.
The seven nonprofits now partnered with “Keys For Kids” are Arts+, Authoring Action, Kidznotes, Community Council for the Arts-Kinston, NC, McDowell Arts Council Association, Musical Empowerment and Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge.
Kids are planting seeds for the future.
Music is the way to sit down and talk about life.
Full video of Ben's performances and interviews will be online very soon. Stay tuned.
