'Film to Table': A Movie-Themed Dinner Party

For ‘Film to Table’, our end of year staff party, we worked with Chef Nhat Tran of The Artisan Project to create a 5 course menu based on the history of film.

We gathered at the Thomas Crowder Woodland Center, nestled in the woods of Raleigh's Lake Johnson, for a night of conversation, food and camaraderie. Each dinner course was paired with a film from a specific genre.

Here are the dishes that The Artisan Project put together with the films that inspired them:

  • Action: Great Train Robbery (1903) - Jalapeño Dynamite (Crab egg rolls with roasted jalapeno, sweet and sour sauce)
  • Comedy: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) - The Killer Rabbit Pot Pie (Creamy pot pie stuffed with chicken and bloody vegetables)
  • Horror: The Shining (1980) - REDRUM Sisters Carbonaro (Scallops and squid ink carbonaro pasta with red wine reduction sauce)
  • Science Fiction: Jurassic Park (1993) - Jurassic Forest (Seared lamb chop with grilled wild mushrooms and fondant potatoes)
  • Drama: Barbie + Oppenheimer (2023) - The Barbenheimer (Layers of dark chocolate pretzels, strawberry jello, and sweet cream)

We decided to also honor what makes Myriad truly extraordinary. Each of our staff, their creativity, and relentless commitment to giving a damn. We honored them with the inaugural 'Exclamation Awards'.

The Exclamation Marks celebrate excellence. Excellence in service. Excellence in playfulness. Excellence in color. Excellence in clarity. Excellence in purpose. Excellence in Myriadness. Excellence in exclamation. And of course, they celebrate excellence in excellence.

Each employee was paired with their film doppelgänger. Can you guess who received each award?

The Artisan Project aims to cultivate a space for meaningful conversation, inspire individuals to be creative artisans, and promote a deeper understanding of the world and our place within it. They hope to reclaim the art of gathering by providing unique dinner experiences inspired by cultural cuisines from around the world.
